ARTIST STATEMENT

As a visual artist, my work is an exploration of the intersection between the inner world of the human psyche and the outer world of nature and society. Through my art, I strive to capture the essence of the human experience, revealing the complex emotions, thoughts, and relationships that shape our lives. My artistic process is deeply intuitive, informed by my own experiences and observations of the world around me. I am drawn to a range of mediums, including painting, drawing, sculpture, and installation, and I often experiment with combining different techniques and materials to create unexpected textures and effects. At the heart of my work is a desire to create a sense of connection and empathy between the viewer and the subject matter. Whether I am exploring themes of identity, memory, or social justice, my aim is to create art that is compelling, thought-provoking, and emotionally resonant.Ultimately, my hope is that my art can serve as a catalyst for deeper reflection and understanding, inviting viewers to engage with the world in new and meaningful ways.

THE YEAR OF KNOTS

12th - 16th July, 2024

In the ethereal realm of creativity, Helen Nzete embarked on a profound odyssey delving into the depths of childhood trauma with her artistry.

Her canvas transformed into a sacred haven, a realm where unspoken emotions wove themselves into simple knots of twines and ropes, vibrant hues and enigmatic shapes. Each twist of knot whispered tales of catharsis, transmuting agony into a blob
of colours and abstract wonders. Helen's creations resonates with the audience, reflecting back echoes of their own untlod narratives.
